Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Hexilize ("we", "us") collects when you use hexilize.com and how we handle it. We try to keep this short and plain.
1. Who we are
Hexilize is an online game operated from France. For any privacy question, contact gamemaster@hexilize.com.
2. What we collect
- Account: email and username you provide at signup.
- Password: stored only as a salted hash. We never see your plain password.
- OAuth login: if you sign in via a third-party provider (e.g. Google), we receive the basic profile information that provider sends us (typically email and a provider user id).
- Server logs: IP address, browser user-agent, and request metadata, kept for short periods for security and debugging.
- Gameplay data: in-game actions, owned cells, units, cities, currency.
- Analytics: we run a self-hosted Umami instance. It records anonymous page views and does not use tracking cookies or sell data.
3. Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. That is it. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
4. Where your data goes
- Hosting: our servers and database run on Railway.
- Domain: registered with OVHcloud.
- OAuth providers: if you choose social login, that provider handles its part under its own policy.
We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers.
5. Your rights (GDPR)
You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing gamemaster@hexilize.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (the French data protection authority).
6. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from your profile in-game. We soft-delete the account: personal identifiers are removed or anonymized, and gameplay artifacts may be retained in an anonymized form so the world state stays consistent.
7. Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Server logs are kept for a short period (typically up to 30 days). Backups may persist a bit longer before being overwritten.
8. Children
Hexilize is not intended for users under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.
9. Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and standard hosting safeguards. No online service is perfectly secure; use a unique password.
10. Changes
If we update this policy, we will change the date above and, for material changes, post a notice in-game.
